Tutor Spotlight: Kaung

What is your Major? 

My major is Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a minor in Decision Sciences. 

Do you have any hobbies or personal interests outside of school? 

I enjoy outdoor activities like playing basketball, running, and hiking. Also, I enjoy playing tactical FPS games. 

What do you enjoy most about tutoring? 

I enjoy seeing student’s light bulbs light up after the sessions, or students enjoying and increasing interest in the topics. 

Why did you want to become a tutor?

I became a tutor because I often seek out tutoring help since English isn’t my first language; therefore, I know how much tutoring helps me. For this reason, I want to help SFSU students who are struggling with the subjects and because I enjoy sharing my knowledge. 

Do you have a favorite assignment or topic to tutor? 

My favorite topics to tutor are Excel projects and Linear programming.

Did you have a favorite cartoon growing up? 

I like to watch anime like Naruto, One Piece. 

Favorite hobby growing up? 

Swimming was my favorite hobby growing up. 

And finally, the most important question, is cereal a soup or a broth, or something else entirely?

Cereal is entirely something else. 

What is the one thing you learned/gained as a tutor that you will carry into your future? 

One thing I learned is that you are more capable than you think. 

What advice would you give new tutors? 

One advice I will give new tutors is to be honest to students. If you can't solve some problems, just tell the student that you are having a hard time figuring it out. 

What will you miss about SF State?   

I will miss TASC. 

Plans after you graduate? 

Just deciding to get an MBA or not.
